Spain, France & the Basque Region
Experience a culture so proud that it still maintains its own language which dates back over 7000 years. If you’ve been looking for a trip to Europe, with a culture unlike anything you’ve experienced before, than this is the cycling trip for you. There is as much to see and experience on the bike, as off the bike. Though we’ll be riding over smooth roads and enjoying modern-day hotel amenities, you’ll be transported, back in time, to a mythical and mystical age.
About the Riding…
Imagine riding from France to Spain through areas inhabited since the Stone Age. From the Bay of Biscay, we’ll ride inland over lush, green hills and unforgettable landscapes dotted with immaculate Basque homes built centuries ago. We’ll arrive, by bike, to the medieval village of St. Jean-de-Port, the famous village and starting point on the Camino de Santiago path.
This cycling trip offers world-class cycling in a region responsible for producing one of the world’s most tenacious pros, 5-time Tour de France winner, Miguel Indurain. The trip includes San Sebastian, a cosmopolitan and dynamic city of youth, culture and some of the best tapas restaurants in Spain.
About the Food, Wine and Tapas…
We’ll savor the excellent wines of Spain, and dine in traditional Basque style, enjoying stews and casseroles that will take you back to your childhood. When we arrive to San Sebastian, we’ll dive into the labrynith of streets, filled with cafes of “pinchos,” also known as tapas. If you enjoy wine, the flavors of this area will surprise you and we’re confident that, when you return home, you’ll be impressing your friends with your knowledge of Muga, Ribera del Duero and Vega Sicilia.

WHAT LEVEL RIDER DO I NEED TO BE?
This is an excellent trip for those that love to climb hills (small mountains) of 5-15km, while enjoying unparalleled scenery. We average 40-60 miles per day and have guides on the bike, for every speed. Let go of your thoughts and enjoy the miles.
IS THIS A GOOD TRIP FOR A NON-RIDER?
If your companion rides only a small amount we offer shorter rides. This is a great trip for non-cyclists, with curiosity and a sense of adventure. The trip starts in Biarritz, past and present home to French royalty as well as a world famous surfing mecca. We spend a couple nights in St. Jean Pied de Port, a primary stop on the Camino de Santiago. Then, we finish the trip in the dynamic city of San Sebastian, full of shopping, museums, walks on the beach and more.
